The term Learning Space at the KaosPilots encompasses both the physical place for learning and the intellectual space. We recognize the importance of both place and space in order to create the best frames for learning to take place.
At times the learning process spans all hours of the day, and at times the classroom is moved to foreign countries or settings outside the boundaries of the school, but non the less the main learning environment for the students is at the school.
This is where they find inspiration through lectures and interaction with their fellow students, and the training of qualifications and competencies to a large extend is developed through the participation in the organized learning process that takes place here, or springs from here.
We aim for the school, our facilities in Aarhus, to be characterized by intimacy, accessibility and ownership. The school is for it’s students and we intend to frame their learning through stimulating physical surroundings.
Additionally the intellectual space at the KaosPilots is derived from our beliefs about the world and our values. Based on these it is the school’s wish to create a learning environment, which motivates the student intellectually, helping the student achieve a feeling of ownership for his or her learning process, and encouraging her to take responsibility for her own learning and her views of the world.
The idea is to let reality, represented by external clients and the projects developed by the students themselves to correspond to tendencies in society, decide the content of the program. We believe that this direct connection to what is happening in the world inspires the students to approach their education with a sense of purpose and the ability to make a difference, which heightens learning.
This means that the learning processes at the school spring from real life, and combined with our way of viewing the world, our beliefs, focus areas, and values create a program where we strive to make all teachings grounded in practice, intentional and meaningful, supported by knowledge, a reflective practice, a natural progression, experimental, and involving.
