Meet Kai & Emil
Please introduce yourself
Kai and Emil, partners-in-crime since outpost!
Which team and when did you graduate?
Team 24, graduating in the misty 2020.
What have you been doing since you graduated as a Kaospilot?
Exploring ways of democratizing climate action. An exploration now grown into an independent consultancy business called cirka cph where we shape and deliver ways to make this happen. Including, of course, a fair share of knowledge-based entrepreneurship and leadership. Importantly, trying to keep on learning, while being out here contributing day-to-day.
What is important for you in your job?
Making climate action more human. We need all hands on deck to turn this ship. There’s so much insight, imagination, and agency sitting with people that is still not being put to good use in top-down decision making. When this happens, it seems to make matters more real, honest, and ambitious.
Our added bonus is to get to share and spread ambitious ideas between the quite diverse groups of people that we encounter through our work – all of whom are needed to bring about change.
What major learnings would you point out from your experience that have shaped you as a leader?
We started out with nothing much, so we worked with what we had – will and commitment to the mission, curiosity towards the means. We have been asking for a lot of help from a lot of people, including multiple amazing Kaospilots – thank you all! That helps in learning to recognize the situations, where we can contribute to making an actual difference.
What is your biggest source for inspiration right now?
All the good people working to transform cities, communities, and companies! Let’s get even more bold changemakers out there.
What would be an example of a learning or an experience from your time at Kaospilot that has been important to you?
We had the opportunity to spend a full year uncovering the human barriers to climate action in reuse management, during the Systemic Leadership Assignment. Meticulously exploring and setting up a powerful project for a group of 10 teammates. The excitement and responsibility of inviting a team into something you’ve been pouring heart, mind, and hands into for months – to then bring it all to life together!
And obviously, the 10 tired bodies dancing and having champagne upon completion. Probably with Baby Shark playing on the stereo…?
What is a piece of advice that you would like to give future Kaospilot graduates?
In these pivotal years in history, working head-on for change is like mental wellness.
Especially when you have good people by your side to do it with!
Cirka Cph just won “Frederiksberg Talent Award”. The reason for the award was from Frederiksberg Business Council:
“Cirka Cph’s mission is to find joint solutions to green challenges. The young company is able to gather the right players for important initiatives – in collaboration with both public and private customers. Cirka Cph is an example of enthusiasm, courage and future-oriented skills. The two young founders, Kai and Emil, have in a short time created a beacon for green transformation with community and co-creation at the centre. Therefore Cirka Cph wins the Frederiksberg Talent Award 2022.”
