Designing Learning Spaces Online – Part 1.5
Get support from peers and mentors to land your learning design curve and create your own learning style, direction and craft.
It’s time to design and create online, offline and hybrid learning spaces, which activates and brings learning, content and personal development alive.
This online course builds on the Learning Arch methodology and aims to upgrade your creativity and learning design skills, theory, pedagogy, mindsets and ambitions for yourself, students, colleagues, clients and schools.
WEEK ZERO: SET(#1) THE STAGE FOR YOU: THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM
PRE COURSE LOOP-LANDING — Support and give time to the learners to start making a connection with the programme’s learning arches, its content and their own skills, knowledge, professional and personal ambitions for it.
WEEK 1: SET(#2) CHECK IN; LEAN IN; & START LEADING YOURSELF & OTHERS
Explore and practice how to Make a connection with the students and meet them where they are at (knowledge, social, professional, personal & emotional).
WEEK 2: SET(#3) DEFINE THE LEARNING SPACE, ROLES AND RULES
Explore and practice how to set the conditions for how you will try to work together, the learning styles you will explore and how you will collaborate by clarifying expectations.
WEEK 3: HOLD(#1) DESIGN & MODEL YOUR CONTENT, CONTEXT & EXPERIENCE.
Explore and practice how to make the case for what the students are about to learn and why it is useful, relevant, emerging, challenging and even powerful.
WEEK 4: HOLD(#2) THE FIRST STEP TO 3P AGENCY. DEFINE & DESIGN FOR DEVELOPING CRAFT
Explore and practice how to unfold and increase the learning, challenge (practice) and measurement to support risk and a deeper understanding of the subject and craft (methods supported by theory). As the teacher leaves the stage, the students step up and perform through application, (self)reflection, analysis and leadership.
WEEK 5: LAND(#1) LAND WITH CHARACTER FOR 3P DEVELOPMENT
Explore and practice how to design for character growth as self- understanding deepens through increased complexity of tasks, alternating contexts and delivery within groups of peers whilst seeking to create sustainable impact & value.
WEEK 6: LAND(#2) LAND (YOUR LAD) AGENCY WITH CONFIDENCE & CELEBRATE
Explore and practice the learner’s ability to set their own targets beyond their current expectations. To define and take more control of their (learning) potential, behaviour, actions and direction.

If you have attended part 1 or 2, or a 2 day version of a KP learning design masterclass, and you a person who:
- Shares the need for a proactive change in education for society and future generations of online & offline learners and do’ers.
- Would like to reconnect with the KP and like minded proactive and passionate learning designers who don’t have the answers, but believe that together we might!

Using the LEARNING ARCH DESIGN METHOD, and building on the Kaospilot Covid experiments with multiple ways to engage participants in autonomous, self-directed and prompt driven peer-to-peer oriented ‘virtual learning spaces’, we will run an online program that aims to blend the high touch experience of the Kaospilot in a virtual, low tech, learning space.
Learning Arch Design Bootcamp
In spring 2021, we are launching our virtual Learning Arch Design Bootcamp, a 3 week, 6 hour course for everyone interested.
“Thanks Kaospilot and all the participants! Amazing experience full of new prospectives and ideas for developing Learning Design strategies and journeys. Sharing ideas and vision with all of you across this small world was great! Can’t wait for part 2 in the real world!”
Mauro Mazzeto: Italy, consultant/trainer (Part 1 Alumni)
“This is an intense 6 week course, which made me rethink education and my teaching practices … crossing the threshold of innovation in education. This course helped me rethink and redraw the learning arches for my education journeys at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I was introduced again to the masters of pedagogy like Dewey, Lewin, Kolb, Schön and Freire, always supported by an egregore of educators and friends, to whom I am very grateful.”
Cesar Ferragi: Brazil, Under/Postgrad profressor(Part 1 Alumni)
“This programme really helped me to explore deeper the 7Cs framework, (and how to work with Connection, Conditions, Context, Content, Craft, Character & Confidence), influencing my practice as a learning designer, to make impact for learning journeys and experiences, that will inspire our learners to have ambition and purpose. I feel that I have learnt so much about myself. Focusing intently on each of the 7Cs, has made me more curious, more reflective, and more creative especially with Connection and Context, having a breakthrough in week – Context, took my thinking far wider than I could ever imagined. Just brilliant fun.My advice to future Kaospilots, use this programme to recharge and relaunch your passion for learning.
Curriculum Designer(part 1 alumni)
“This has been such an amazing experience to network with AWESOME individuals across the world. The support network between the whole global Team meets and self-directed study, informed by small LAD Group Clinics, Master Archer Mentors, and buddy walks that gave inspiring discussion, guidance ,feedback and challenge.I have answered my personal, practical, and professional questions on how to hold space and how to share this journeying language with simple clarity. The last six weeks has navigated my practice towards a deeper understanding of setting, holding, and landing learning.”
