The Global Business Challenge
In pursuit of the Perfect Virtual Team!

Project Challenge:

FCA’ global growth & new market development was facing complex international & local challenges. They needed new emerging and wild ideas, concepts & innovations to solve these internally to own the solution and find the right team to implement in the context, the solution they invented. Whilst, identifying, new talent and exploring the potential in cross regional, cultural and departmental diversity and team work, ONLINE!

Context

As FCA expanded globally into new markets with major differences in tax, investment, production, procedures, retail & regulatory law etc. they saw the opportunity to open these pending problems, proactively to solve them using the potential to be found in existing staff, working together interculturally & inter-departmentally. They, needed to identify and sustain talent, allow for movement in-company and between regions.

Concept / Result:

The KPLA was hired to find the sweet spot between situated/contextual learning, experiential learning & problem based learning, that could work online for phase 1 and then in context with the winning solutions. The teams were expected to solve the major challenges delivering un-expected solutions. Through analysing, leverage on different resources (with Mentors & Learning Coaches), learning aids and interviews with experts. And, prototype new methods for working and solving problems remotely by adapting different tools and state of the art media, like Telepresence, Lync, phone, e-mail etc.

KP designed a virtual learning journey where:

  • Learning is embedded in direct, relevant experience
  • People learned from meaningful, situated, compelling experiences like solving complex problem or achieving new targets.
  • Socialization of learnings, experiences & processes to support an internal drive for learning professionals.

Change / Outcome:

  • New case study & innovation process design and tested
  • High level innovative solutions to wicked problems, and micro-experiment teams ready to Activate: be deployed for implementation.
  • A new learning professionals podcast for ‘social’ internal learning communities and development
  • Customised business game & customer simulations to support emerging challenges
  • Community Action programmes & out-door team-building events
